I can’t count the number of times I’ve seen missing or damaged end caps on panic hardware and fire exit hardware – those carts and gurneys can be brutal!
So what’s the Fixed-it Friday “fix”? The Trimco PG8125 Series End Cap Guards are a great solution, and YES – they are listed for use on fire door assemblies – 90-minute wood doors and 3-hour hollow metal doors.

The flush end caps do help a lot, but sometimes I still see them missing. 🙁

Always a frustration for fire door compliance. The rating label is often located on the end cap and you can’t just replace it with a labeled end cap. 3 or 4 years ago, Intertek and UL wouldn’t field label a fire exit device. Replacement was the available option.
