It’s Fire Prevention Week, and this year’s campaign is: “Charge into Fire Safety™: Lithium-Ion Batteries in Your Home.” This campaign works to educate everyone about using these batteries safely. The campaign stresses how important it is to BUY, CHARGE, and RECYCLE safely when it comes to lithium-ion batteries.
To mark NFPA’s Fire Prevention Week, I’ve updated Allegion’s fire door inspection checklist, a laminated card that includes important information from the NFPA 80 standard about the requirements for the inspection of fire door assemblies. Documented inspections and the repair of deficiencies noted are crucial steps in maintaining code-compliance and ensuring proper performance of this important part of a building’s passive fire protection system.
We’re seeing a sharp rise in enforcement of these inspections after installation, after maintenance or repair work, and annually. If you’d like to order some of the free checklists, use this form and make sure to include your name, shipping address, and the quantity of cards you need.
We’re also kicking off a weekly series that takes a closer look at the 13 criteria for fire door assembly inspections, so check back for those posts, or subscribe for email notifications using the link in the right sidebar. –>
