Maybe also,,, the restroom has bad plumbing?
I’m surprised the “temporary” chain from conduit to gate pull (aka, zip tie) has been cut. Oh no….
Looks like some of the “material” the plunger dislodged, found its way onto the door and the alarmed exit device.
I would look for another way out and avoid dealing with this crappy exit.
It would have to be an emergency to want to touch this device.
