With the world moving to touch-free solutions, such as automatic door operators, there’s a HUGE demand for skilled installers and easy-to-use products. This is why we believe that the LCN 6400 COMPACT automatic door operator is such an amazing product.
We recently installed one and found that it’s lightweight and easy to install. It also is the only door operator that literally slips right onto an existing door closer! This saves space, time and money for all parties involved. In the fast-paced and instant-gratification world we live in, Allegion really hit the nail on the head with this product, and we can see why it has won awards…

Does it allow enough clearance beneath it?
Great Idea…lousy follow through. Installs very easy and quickly – wiring is straightforward and simple. Programming is a breeze. Hold open time is limited to 5 seconds which, unfortunately, makes this operator useless in most applications..
5 seconds is the default time. According to the instructions you can set a custom time up to 30 seconds.
“17e. To set Custom Hold open, press and hold“LngHldOpn” button and count beeps (30 beeps maximum). When the number of beeps equals the number of seconds of desired hold open, release the button. A flashing LED indicates a custom hold open time has been set. Actuate unit to verify door holds open for desired time. Press the Lng Hld Opn button again to select a different custom hold open time. A quick press of the button will return to the default 5 second hold open.”
Thanks Kurt!

Not sure what instruction manual you are looking at.. My manuals 17e says this: 17e Manually open the door and ensure the door opens smoothly and closes completely.
Contacted tech support and they informed me there is no way to lengthen the hold open time (I even tried a maintained activation) Tech support also said they are working on a solution and expect one next year.
Bruce, my apologies. The LCN Compact has been updated as of Dec 1st. to have up to 30 seconds of hold open. I was not aware the previous version was limited to 5 second hold open. You were correct.
The 6440 operator was originally released with a 1 second or 5 second hold open time. The 6440 operator has since been upgraded, and a marketing letter was released last week. The operator can now be set for a 1 – 30 second hold open time, adjustable in 1 second increments. Bruce has the installation instructions from before this update, and Kurt has the currenting installation instructions.
Thanks for the clarification, Jason!
