When the automatic operator stops working, today’s Fixed-it Friday photo illustrates one way to fix it without bringing in an auto operator expert or waiting for replacement components.
I wonder if this was approved by the facility manager.
Seems like a pretty short-sighted approach, no?
Thank you to Deputy Jeff Tock of Allegion for the photo!

Non Electric Hydraulic Assist Option.
Hello Lori, I have seen this happen a couple of times wuen I lived in NJ,
This is often done as a cheaper alternative to replacing the gearbox/drive motor.
Another reason this is done is when the spring (similar to a potbelly spring) breaks and don’t have the money to buy a new one.
The only danger I see is who knows how far into the opener the mounting screws went in and possibly damaged the circuit board.
I also often see the case where there is a concealed in frame closer and it then breaks and instead of repairing the owner mounts another closer to the frame drilling through the (repairable) closer rendering it useless. People don’t realize that its best to buy a dummy closer for this purpose.

Looks like they could not afford the ASSA ABLOY Service call for what appears to be a concealed operator , so local yocal did the next best thing … go figure
Wow! Just wow!
