If this is the only possible way to secure the classroom door, ok then. But if the door has a lock on it and the outside lever is locked during an active assailant event, this method will not only mostly-unlatch the door, the force of someone trying to enter the room could pop the inside lever off. Let’s do a better job of planning for an active-shooter incident. Teachers should not have to resort to this.

Perfect! All we have to do is specify a certain chair for inclusion with each hardware set! The should be careful to use a high back chair that also obscures the vision panel [without risk of breakage].
More seriously, new projects already tend to address this concern with various code-compliant classroom ‘security functions’ and/or employee procedures at the Client’s request.
Less seriously: All the country needs is several tens-of-billion-dollars to go thru every existing facility to replace all the door latch and locksets with something that appeals and meets the approval of everyone on social media.
