Last month I mentioned a PBS special on school security called The Path to Violence. This show is currently available on PBS.org for online viewing (embedded below). Paul Timm is a board certified Physical Security Professional (PSP), the president of RETA Security, Inc., and one of the nation’s leading experts in school and campus safety, and appears in this PBS special as well as one of the news stories I posted previously.
Paul is holding two school security seminars in New England within the next month – on March 26th in South Hartford, Connecticut, and March 27th in Framingham, Massachusetts. These events are a great opportunity for anyone interested in learning more about security solutions in schools and on campus. Those who should consider attending are:
• Administrators
• Principals and Superintendents
• School Security and Safety Personnel
• Architects
• Facilities Directors
• IT Directors
• Local Emergency Responders
Topics for these complimentary day-long security seminars include:
• Methods to help identify and address key areas of vulnerability
• Best practices in current emergency preparedness standards
• Worst case scenario: When and how to conduct a lockdown
• Creative sources of funding for school security
I know that many schools are currently reviewing their security plans and procedures, and Paul Timm will share valuable information to help with these assessments. If you are interested in attending one of these school security seminars, or if you know someone who should consider attending, just send me an email at lori.greene@allegion.com. Space is limited so there may not be a seat for everyone who would like to attend. There are also scheduled seminars in other parts of the country, so if those in Massachusetts and Connecticut are not convenient for you, get in touch with me and I’ll check to see if there is one closer to you. I will be attending the seminar in Framingham, so I hope to see some of you there!
