For several months I’ve been working on a short presentation for code officials about Fire & Egress door Assembly Inspection.  I really HAVE been working on it, just not continuously.  In my defense, it’s really easy to get sidetracked when you get 100 emails per day.  But there’s one sure-fire way to get me focused, and that’s to set a deadline.  Not just a due date on my to-do list that I can change on a whim, but a real deadline with other people who will be waiting to see the results of my hard work.

I’ve got a deadline – this Thursday, which is when I’ll be reviewing the presentation with the other local FDAIs.  We’ve formed a non-profit association – the Association of Door Assembly Inspectors (ADAI), and we meet before each DHI chapter meeting and sometimes in between.  Believe it or not, my presentation is almost done!  Our group is going to use it to explain to local code officials why FDAI is so important.

So…I’m a few photos short and that’s what I need help with.  If any of you have photos of the following items that you’d be willing to share, I’d really appreciate it if you would email them to me.  BTW…I will share the presentation with you all as soon as it’s finished.  Maybe I’ll even record myself talking – that would be pretty cool!  (You could always mute me.  🙂 )

I need photos illustrating the following:

  • Bad gasketing on a fire door – missing, damaged, etc.
  • Damaged glass or glass bead/kit on a fire door or frame.
  • Missing or broken hardware on a rated opening.
  • A bar-type coordinator in action – a video would be great!
  • Ugly field modifications on a door or frame.

I will give you photo credit if I use your photos in the presentation.  Thanks in advance!
