Let’s Talk it Over

I don’t know about you, but I used to feel like code officials were mysterious beings…sometimes they seemed a bit unpredictable.  I think a big part of this is because the sections of the codes that we deal with on a daily basis are difficult to decipher if you are not intimately familiar with doors and hardware.

For the last few years I’ve had the privilege to get to know (at least virtually), many of the AHJs and other members of the Building Code Forum.  I have even run across a few of them outside of the forum, and felt like our online connection helped to pave the way for our offline conversations.  Close to a year ago I created a Door & Hardware forum on the site, and since then there have been 153 discussions which have been viewed more than 120,000 times!  It has been so valuable for me to get input from members of the forum regarding my questions, and for me (and others!) to help with their hardware questions.

Come on over and check out the forum!  Maybe you can help with this technician’s auto operator question, or join one of these other recent discussions:

  • Firefighters Closed Fire Door
  • IBC 1008.1.9.8 or 1008.1.9.9
  • Measuring Push/Pull Opening Force on Doors
  • Double Acting Doors
  • Emergency Exit Seals

    Hello Lori,

nice to see this forum again, pretty much actaly almost forgot about its existance (sorry)

me being that im NOT a codes or specwriter (but an expert in door closers) is it OK if i joined (to help out with the door closer questions??

some of the questions look similar to those that I see in my inbox and what people ask me on youtube or facebook, latest of the LCN questions was in fact a LCN 4410 ME series closer (hold open not functional) I am just hoping that i can be of use to the codes people as well as others (installers/repairers who may also use the site to ask for help, its not that common to see a commercial closer question on a homeowners’ DIY forum.

    hear from you soon??
