WW: Chair Lift

Category: Egress,Wordless WednesdayLori @ 7:23 am Comments (13)

This Thanksgiving, I’m thankful for industry colleagues who share their expertise, code officials who try to answer questions even when I’m way down into the nitty gritty, people who read this blog (or at least come to look at the pictures), and for photos like this…

Chair Lift

P.S.  I’m also thankful for family, friends, good health, a roof over our head, food on the table, a job I love, freedom, puppies, my coworkers, chocolate, hobbit doors, music, sloths, sunny days, well…you get the picture.  Thank YOU for visiting!  And have a happy Thanksgiving!

And thank you to my code official pal who sent me this photo but wishes to remain anonymous.

What are you thankful for?

    Sloths? Really? That’s funny.
I feel like a sloth today….ready for the long weekend.
And a special THANK YOU for all you do.

  2. Cda says:

It does say “emergency” on the sign

Maybe the true exit is the chair???

I am thankful for the beautiful wonders of earth

Right Chief! Just sit in the emergency exit chair and push this button…….

I knew a girl that had a chair like that once…. I think her name was Eileen….

Be Thankful for your blessings no matter how big or small.

    Happy Thanksgiving to all!

Wishing all a Great and Wonderful Thanksgiving.
I have no comment for the lift chair pic. I know the lift chairs are great for people with knee and back problems, etc. that cannot climb steps.
One has to wonder however why it ends in the middle of an emergency exit.
Has to be some logical reason, like they ordered the wrong length.
Thank you Lori for all of your posts.

    • Lori says:

Yes, I think it’s the wrong length. It may have been originally ordered for another location and ended up here.

      You’re welcome!

Happy Thanksgiving Lori and All. I am thankful for family, good friends and new opportunities…and for those I work with, both past and present, that they have an abundance of patience with learning curves when it comes to doors, frames and hardware. I have been blessed to be around people who have a passion for this industry and are willing to share their knowledge and enthusiasm. Lori, thank you for your blog and presenting our industry in a new a fresh manner…keep up the good work.

    looks like an older building

exit sign is paper and not a lit one, so may not be a needed exit, and just have not taken the sign down

maybe retro fit to meet ada?

  8. Mike says:

It looks like the lower portion of the track flips up when the chair is not at the bottom.

I think you’re right but a lot of code officials would have a problem with even the temporary restriction of egress.
