You know what they say about making assumptions. I looked at this Wordless Wednesday photo sent by Shannon Ballard of Allegion and thought, “hmmm…another door that requires two releasing motions for egress.” Shannon asked the business owners about the panic hardware + passage set application, and they had a good (but non-code-compliant) explanation.
You see, this is an exterior door, and when the panic hardware is dogged, the door blows open. Rather than paying for a door closer, they added the passage set to keep the door latched.
