A few months ago I wrote a very detailed article about the 7 Steps to Code Compliance to be referenced when considering security measures for educational facilities and other types of buildings. I wanted to try to simplify the list of code requirements into 7 main topics, while capturing the supporting statistics, best practices recommended in various reports, and the applicable code references.
For a technical audience (or anyone who has the patience to digest so much detailed information), the 7 Steps article could be very helpful in understanding the factors that can impact security decisions. But as we all know, hardware is complicated, and it is only one portion of a security plan. To assist with conversations that don’t get so far into the details, a less technical version of my article is available here.
Today I’m sharing a related resource that I think will be really valuable in summarizing the detailed information – an infographic that is available in both digital and printable formats. The digital version is available here, and includes links to some of the statistics and code information that was included in my original article. And if you’re “Old School” (like me) and prefer to have a printed handout, the print version can be downloaded here.
It’s tough to summarize the code requirements and for complete information the adopted codes should be referenced, but these resources should go a long way in helping to address some of the considerations while making the supporting technical details available as well.

This is a fantastic resource and beautifully illustrated!
Thanks Deviant! I think so too! 🙂
I can’t take credit for the illustrations – those were done by my coworker, John Short.
