I can’t believe how quickly time is flying by!  2021 is more than half over and so is summer.  In two weeks I have a kid heading back to college and I’ll finish my 54th year around the sun.  The 2024 code development cycle is moving along, and the DHI ConNextions conference is approaching.  AND…we have a multitude of online training options on tap, as we have for well over a year!

TUESDAY

The Allegion 101 series was designed for people who are new to the industry, new to the Allegion family of brands, or just want to learn more about hardware.  If you know of someone who has just started their career in the door and hardware industry, or maybe someone in another role who could begin learning more about the technical / product side of things, set them up with this course!

Allegion 101 | The Door & Frame – Republic
Tuesday, July 2oth, 1:00pm – 2:30pm Eastern

In this session, learn about the world of Republic hollow metal doors and frames. We’ll address such elements as frame profiles, drywall frames, masonry frames, and the anchors used in their installation. Learn about door construction and hardware reinforcements. Get familiar with common Republic model numbers/nomenclature so you can make sense of documents (e.g., order acknowledgements, the price book, etc.) and literature (e.g., catalog pages, tech data manuals, etc.). Leon Starks, our Steelcraft and Republic Training Manager, will be your instructor.

You can register for Allegion 101 classes using the links on the Allegion Virtual Events Calendar.  If you miss a class, the recordings are on the Event Board of the Allegion Training Page.

WEDNESDAY

Our national trainers continue their Webinar Wednesday series!
Wednesday, July 21st (all times are EDT)

  • 10:00-11:00am: Servicing Schlage Networked AD Series Locks and Peripherals with Schlage Utility Software
    • Schlage Utility Software (SUS) is a robust tool that not only is used to set-up and secure your Schlage AD Series products, it can also help you maintain peak performance from your devices. During their lifecycle, troubleshooting, servicing, and occasional updates of your networked AD devices may be required, and this is the tool that helps you perform these tasks. This session will help you to achieve optimal performance of your AD components. John Dalrymple, our Electronics Training Manager, will lead this session.
  • 12:00-1:00pm: Accessible Buildings: The Critical Requirements for Clear Width and Maneuvering Clearances
    • Although it has been thirty years since the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) defined what makes for an accessible commercial building, some buildings—especially structures built before 1990—may fall a little short in meeting the clear width and maneuvering clearance requirements for openings. In this session, learn what those requirements are, why they are so important to an individual with disabilities, and how to check and solve for compliance. Jeff Tock, our End User Training Manager, will be your guide.
  • 2:00-3:00pm: Lock Functions
    • Are you new to locks for non-residential buildings? This webinar will provide you a solid foundation, from describing lock functions in terms of how the lock behaves to explaining the difference between function name, ANSI number, and Schlage model number. You’ll get the opportunity to practice selecting the best lock function for a particular scenario. Gordon Malczewski, Schlage Training Manager, will be your guide.
  • 4:00-5:00pm: Steelcraft Door & Frame – Construction and Application
    • New to hollow metal doors & frames? Join us to learn about Steelcraft door types, such as full flush, steel stiffended, temperature rise, and style and rail doors. You will also learn the difference between masonry and dry wall frames, including some application and installation considerations. Leon Starks, Steelcraft Training Manager, will lead this session.

Visit the Allegion Virtual Event Calendar for more information and to register for any of these sessions.

THURSDAY

Door Drills | Add Access Control to Your Von Duprin 98/99 Series Exit Devices
Thursday, July 22nd, 10:00-11:00 a.m. and 2:00-3:00 p.m. EDT

Are you responsible in whole or part for keeping the doors at your facility in good working order?  If so, our Door Drills series is for you.

Electronic access control is part of most facilities these days.  Join this webinar to learn how you can update a standard Von Duprin 98 or 99 Series device so that it will work seamlessly with an access control system.  We’ll start by sharing with you the five essential questions to ask at the start.  Then, we’ll use four applications—four common scenarios where electronic access control is often added to mechanical openings—to describe the products and accessories you can use.  We will feature the Von Duprin QEL (Quiet Electric Latch Retraction) Exit Devices and the Von Duprin M996L Trim (the Motor Driven Electrified Lever Trim).

Sign up for this session and future Door Drills classes by visiting the Allegion Virtual Event Calendar.
