Hello; What about narrow style key switches to fit in narrow style store front doors to operate a mag lock.
Hi Glen –
I’m not sure what your question is…could you elaborate?
– Lori
On entry aluminum pair of doors, is it possible to secure the inactive leaf with flush bolts if it is left unlatched all day? Is there a certain occupancy that you can or can’t use flush bolts? The active leaf would have an Adams rite deadlatch and push paddle.
Hi Todd –
The IBC currently allows manual bolts to be used in Business, Factory and Industrial, or Storage occupancies depending on the occupant load. Mercantile occupancies are not specifically mentioned, although it is very common to see this application on the entrance door of a retail store. It would be up to the AHJ whether or not to allow it.
Here’s where to find this in the 2021 edition of the IBC:
1010.2.5 Bolt Locks
3. Where a pair of doors serves an occupant load of less than 50 persons in a Group B, F or S surface-mounted bolts are permitted on the inactive leaf. The inactive leaf shall not contain doorknobs, panic bars or similar operating hardware.
4. Where a pair of doors serves a Group B, F or S occupancy, manually operated edge- or surface-mounted bolts are permitted on the inactive leaf provided that such inactive leaf is not needed to meet egress capacity requirements and the building is equipped throughout with an automatic sprinkler system in accordance with Section 903.3.1.1. The inactive leaf shall not contain doorknobs, panic bars or similar operating hardware.
