Back in the Olden Days when I went to hardware school, I couldn’t wait to get my AHC certification and become an instructor.  I really looked up to the instructors (and still do!).  They were very knowledgeable and they had a lot of fun too.  Then life happened and I had a young family, so although I taught at several DHI conferences and for the local chapter, I couldn’t work a longer class into my schedule.

Now my kids are old enough that I welcome the occasional week away from home (sorry kids!), so I accepted an invitation to teach COR140 – Using Codes and Standards this June in Dallas!  Two classes will be offered in the days prior to CoNEXTions 2014:

Sunday, June 22 – Wednesday June 25 

Fire and egress doors are an essential part of the safe means of egress for occupants of buildings. Ensuring that these door assemblies are properly maintained and able to perform their vital function requires persons with knowledge of and experience in these types of doors.  This class will teach you how to perform and record inspections of fire door assemblies and doors in a means of egress, as well as provide tips for interacting with the owners and AHJs. In addition, upon passing this class, you will be invited to enroll in the Intertek Certified Fire and Egress Door Inspector program.
