BHMA Codes in Context 2024 BriefingI love this resource from the Builders Hardware Manufacturers Association (BHMA) and I’m excited to share the news that the 2024 edition of Codes in Context for the I-Codes is now available on BHMA’s website!

In addition to a summary of each of the door-related changes to the 2024 International Building Code (IBC) and International Fire Code (IFC), there are “focus documents” with more in-depth information about each of the changes.

Did you know…

  • The I-Codes now allow elevator lobby doors to be locked with fail safe locks, if certain criteria are met?
  • The “Bolt Locks” section has been completely revamped to avoid confusion about when and where flush bolts are permitted?
  • In locations where doors are required to have panic hardware, electromagnetic locks released by a sensor are no longer allowed by the I-Codes?

Check out the 12 focus documents to stay up to date on all of the changes!
