I love this resource from the Builders Hardware Manufacturers Association (BHMA) and I’m excited to share the news that the 2024 edition of Codes in Context for the I-Codes is now available on BHMA’s website!
In addition to a summary of each of the door-related changes to the 2024 International Building Code (IBC) and International Fire Code (IFC), there are “focus documents” with more in-depth information about each of the changes.
Did you know…
- The I-Codes now allow elevator lobby doors to be locked with fail safe locks, if certain criteria are met?
- The “Bolt Locks” section has been completely revamped to avoid confusion about when and where flush bolts are permitted?
- In locations where doors are required to have panic hardware, electromagnetic locks released by a sensor are no longer allowed by the I-Codes?
Check out the 12 focus documents to stay up to date on all of the changes!
