Over the years, I have shared many Wordless Wednesday photos of retail stores with blocked exits. Erich Russ of Jeske Hardware Distributors sent me today’s photos, and his submission was very timely. I recently read a news release from OSHA about same retail chain where Erich’s photos were taken.

The exit sign is lit!
Guess they had a summer overstock delivery???
Emergency lights inside and out,,,, will light the blockage, in case of power outage….
Everything is on a cart,,,, easy to move!!
The charcoal briquets and lighter fluid are just the thing for a fire exit.
My favorite part of the photos is the lighter fluid, briquettes, firewood, BBQ, “Grilling Center,” and other flammable items stacked up in front of the exit doors. If running through chest-high stacks of flaming BBQ briquets to get out of the store isn’t enough, you might as well pile on the plastic fans, plastic mops, plastic chairs, plastic coolers, and plastic tables to really make sure the smoke is extra toxic. I give them credit. If you’re going to be unsafe, you might as well go all the way and give it your maximum effort. Go big or go home. And they did.
The only thing they missed was the opportunity to toss a couple of tubes of burn cream and some bottles of aloe vera gel on the stack to add insult to injury (literally).
