On Tuesday, November 12th, there will be two opportunities to earn AIA continuing education credits and learn about an important topic related to doors and hardware. My coworker, Jeff Batick, will be conducting a webinar to discuss codes and guidelines that affect hardware. He will also review the sections of a master specification and plans that are needed by the spec writer to provide code compliant hardware that meets the client’s needs, the importance of keeping these sections updated, and the effects they can have on your project when they are not maintained and shared with key project people.
Jeff has 24 years of experience with doors, frames, and door hardware. A certified fire door assembly inspector, he is considered a subject matter expert in codes and standards for swinging fire doors, and he has inspected over 1000 fire rated openings to date.
The webinars will be held from 10-11 a.m. and 1-2 p.m. Eastern. If you’d like to register for either of these time slots, click the links below.

I would very much like to attend but will be away that week. Will this be available to view after the webinar is completed. If so could you provide a link to the video.
thanks
P.S. I didn’t like the new format at first but have to admit that it is easier to navigate and follow the flow of the site. So I guess I just resist change :).
This is my go to site when I am looking for answers to many questions. Thanks for all you do!!
Hi Fred –
I have asked our training department about the recording and I will let you know.

Lori could you email a link to the webinar recording to me when you get it?
Hi James –
When I receive it from the training department I will add it to the blog post, but I’m not sure I’ll be able to remember to send it to everyone who asked me about it. Maybe set a reminder to come back and check about a week after the webinar?

How does one become certified as a fire door inspector? I have been installing doors and hardware for a 1/4 century now and have inspected thousands of fire doors by nature of making sure the installation was done complete and correctly.
Hi Bryan –
The program I took was through DHI: https://www.dhi.org/DHI/Education/Fire-and-Egress-Door-Assembly-Inspection-Program/DHI/Education/FDAI-Program.aspx?hkey=f6d1064f-1d63-4641-964f-6c286b014a6b.
