This is a great video from the UL Firefighter Safety Research Institute to illustrate the value of “Close Before You Doze.” According to an article in the Fort Hunt Herald, an 11-year-old girl was protected by her closed bedroom door – even though the fire was only 15 feet from her bedroom.  The video is pretty dramatic as the girl can be heard calling for help on the helmet-cam footage.  I don’t want to think about what the outcome could have been if she had been asleep with her door open.
