Despite the extensive research and recent publicity about the value of closed doors during a fire, many people are still hesitant to sleep with their bedroom door closed at night. UL’s Firefighter Safety Research Institute has created a number of videos to help dispel some of the myths about closed doors. Here are a few of my favorites – you can watch them all on the FSRI’s YouTube channel.

A number of years ago, I recall seeing a wireless kit you could buy that included a hinge closer that was released by an active smoke alarm. Pretty cool idea, but not sure if sold or even if it worked.
Maybe Allegion could invent something like this?
Hi Jim –
I know of two products in design/production. They are not Allegion products, but they are LifeDoor (https://www.lifedoor.io/) and the CeaseFire Door Hinge (http://ceasefiredoorhinge.com/). I’m excited about both!
