This Fixed-it Friday photo showed up in my Google Alerts 3 times this week, so I had to share it. It’s from a blog post called “Fire Station 4’s cool front door” and apparently it is the new door pull on the front door of the Coeur d’Alene Fire Station. While I love the creativity, it seems like it could be a little hazardous (not to mention the conflict with the key cylinder).
Coincidentally, Sheldon Wolfe of BWBR Architects and the Constructive Thoughts blog just sent me the photo of the door pull below, which has some similar issues.

In Soviet Russia, door pulls you!
Is good joke, tovarisch!
Please tell me that axe is as dull as my 10yr old lawn mower blade.
I hope so but it looks pretty lethal from here!

It is a fire station.
Open 24/7.
Lock cylinder access not necessary!
Why is there a card reader then?? 🙂

Chairman Mao’s bathroom door?
After the Chief gets his shirt sleeve or jacket caught on it or some visitor and the law suit or liability issues arise. Lol after someone takes it off for a souvenir. They may want to rethink this ….
