I’ve been thinking about this post for 2 weeks, and I’m stumped. It’s my 500th post on this blog. It seems like 500 posts should warrant some sort of fanfare…maybe a cake?! (in our office we use any excuse to have cake). I’ve been trying to think of a tie-in to 500 somethings, a related photo I could include, but the pressure has clouded my brain.
I was just on Facebook, and I noticed that Isenhour Door had reposted a link that I tweeted earlier today, along with the recommendation to check out my blog because “It will be the best education on doors and hardware that you can get on a regular basis.”
Wow. I am so touched and amazed by comments like this, and I appreciate each and every one. It makes me very proud and happy to know that I’m helping the industry in some way. I’m so thankful for all of the connections I’ve made in the last 2 years because of my blog and social networking, real relationships with people who I can call if I have questions, and vice versa. Thank you for welcoming me into your lives.
In return, I have something for you. If you have already connected with me, or if you connect with me before September 1st, 2011, I will enter you in a drawing to win your choice of a Schlage FE series residential keypad lock, a Schlage CO series lockset, an LCN 4040XP, or a $50 Amazon.com gift card. I’ll pick 5 lucky winners on September 1st.
To enter, you just need to be connected to me in one of the following ways (links to all are in the right sidebar):
~ Subscribe to my blog and receive an email notification of each new post.
~ Connect with me on LinkedIn.
~ Follow me on Twitter.
~ Join the blog’s Facebook fan page.
If you’ve done any of the above you’re already entered to win, but feel free to connect in all of these ways to increase your odds.
Thanks again, and I promise I’ll get back to doors in Post 501. 🙂

Hello Lori, im connected with you in 3 ways,
1. facebook fanpage,
a. facebook name (Lori Greene)
2. twitter
3. the site itself (idighardware.com)
4. ohh LETS NOT FORGET YOUTUBE!
speaking of spreading word about your site and IR products, yesterday i went to the doctor with my dad, i started to read a magazine in the waiting room and then the woman strikes a conversation about sports head injuries and the man she was with (an older guy) was looking attentively at me like hes seen gold,
then he pops the question “do you happen to work for LCN, schlage, Falcon or Glynn-johnson???
(i then found out hes a retired locksmith that has a couple of doors with problems at a church he attends and maintains)
(i was wearing my black and red ingersoll-rand security technologies shirt, from last year’s winnings of 100 countries contest, in fact yesterday was first time i wore it out in public)
…………i seemed to have impressed a seasoned locksmith CERTIFIED in schlage, medeco AND LCN! he initially wanted my phone number but since i dont give that right away, i gave him my email address, told him i find it easier to type then it is to verbally talk. by time he left, we were talking about von Duprin exit devices (33’s and 99’s are installed on the vestibule of the building, but d***a floor concealeds are on his office entry door to waiting room, which he thought was r*x**n……….. then he offered to send me some service/repair manuals and guess what, he knows about New England Door Closer
…………i was wondering why there was a huge gap in questions, maybe I should wear the black IRST shirt more often, maybe more door repairers and locksmiths will come out of the woodwork,

That’s really cool, Jess!
Lori:
I also told him about this site, if he forgt the URL, i will sure send him a link to your site in an email to him when he contacts me so he can feel at home.
one fragment of the conversation I remember well, when he was a locksmith, he worked at a local school district (not my town) he said “we LOVE the LCN closers, simple and durable, easy to fix and last a long time and were simple to adjust with the green fast adjust dial thing”
I also in case my email address is not legible to read (my handwriting sucks, it’s worse then a doctor’s or a pre-kindergartener’s writing, to better explain it, looks like something with severe muscle weakness or spasms (due to cerebral palsy) would write,)
on his way out of a door using a Von Duprin 33, I told him to Google the term “door closer doctor” and he will find some of my posts splattered around the internet and on flickr my email address (if I would have had more time, I would have told him about the Von Duprin firetruck test)

Great Story. It really is all about networking and being accessible to people. Logo shirts are a great way to break the ice.
Wow! I am impressed. I follow you on your blog, and facebook. And I sure could use that residential security lock. There have been some problems in our neighborhood. Keep up the good work.
Lori – Happy 500th! Looking forward to celebrating a Happy 1000th.
I’ll have to pick up the pace or we’ll be celebrating our Happy 1000th around the beginning of 2014! 🙂
Lori- Congratulations on reaching 500. You don’t look a day older than 400.
Lori,
Wow, 500! A big congratulations. I am impressed, it has taken me a year to reach 100 posts. Maybe by the time I reach 500 you will have reached 1000!
Happy blogging!
