I’ve been looking at this building on paper for at least 5 years, and although there were days when I wished for the fun to end, I knew it was going to be something special.

Since we were in DC today, I took the opportunity to see the new headquarters for the United States Institute of Peace in person. It was really cool to look in through the curtainwall facade and know where each door led. The glass bridges and roof terrace that created security and egress challenges, the dove-shaped domes forming the roof, the entrance doors with Von Duprin 55 devices and full-height pulls…all just as I had pictured them. Gorgeous!

It was the first time I’ve ever been busted by Security while taking door photos, but anything for you! Enjoy!

For a few more photos you can check out my Flickr photostream, and the photo below is for Scott Tice and anyone else who likes door pulls.  This was on the building across the street – the American Pharmacists Association.
