It’s been almost a year since I started keeping track of which countries have visited this site, and the count currently stands at 110 countries. WOW! The visits from new countries has slowed dramatically since there are already so many on the list, so I thought it might be fun to post a door photo from each new country as they’re added.
Today someone from Afghanistan visited the site, so here are two photos from the Asheqan wa Arefan neighborhood of Kabul – one of the Allam Qandahary House, and one of the hand of Fatima on the door of the Asheqan wa Arefans shrine. Buildings and parks in this area are gradually being repaired and renovated by the Aga Khan Trust for Culture (AKTC). There’s an informative Wall Street Journal article if you’re interested in learning more about the undertaking.

cool doors and statistic, I remember I guessed afghanistan as one of my guesses (100 countries contest that I won) I had this feeling that country would be next.
never seen the hand of fatima thing, looks pretty cool.
I notice with many door pictures from the middle east many don’t have closers, this a code or climate thing?? or just because of looks an old door don’t look good with a closer?
