Follow Up – UL Listings for Narrow Doors

Back in August, I posted some information about a change to the UL procedures regarding fire doors less than 32″ wide.  UL has just issued another bulletin, which reverses the August 2nd bulletin.  There will be no special requirements for labeling doors less than 32″ wide – doors can be labeled in accordance with the manufacturers’ service procedures.

“As a result of feedback obtained at the industry meeting and further discussions with steel swinging type fire door manufacturers, UL will not be making adjustments to follow up service procedures at this time.  Existing UL and ULC subscribers may continue to produce and label these doors in accordance with their follow up service procedure.”

You can download the UL bulletin here.  If I receive more information about this, I will add it to this post.  I do not know the details of what prompted the first bulletin, but if you have other questions, leave a comment and I’ll try to get an answer.

P.S. I posted an article on fire door deficiencies last night which was not sent out to subscribers because of a formatting issue.  Click here to read it, and have a great weekend!
