1:12 – “To retract the latches so that someone can pull the door open from the outside, there must be power sent to the device”
A mechanical key will not retract the latch? Power *must* be restored before it can be unlocked, even with a key?
The intent of the video is to explain the electrical function. In addition to the electrical function, a mechanical key could also be used.

Thank you. It just makes it sound like if there is an electrical malfunction the doors become impossible for anyone to access from the outside.
Fail safe, fail secure… I think this industry needs more “fail deadly”, like the old-school mainframe computers with built-in TNT and a big red button. Maybe put explosive bolts on exit doors so when the fire alarm goes off they go “boom” and go flying across the lot. Free egress after explosives have detonated! Gotta make a statement, you know, spice things up a bit.
