Remember the old video of the various types of exit devices being run over by a fire truck? It’s a classic, and I still get the urge to watch it every so often…“I am examining the [flattened] device. It is not working.” You could make the case that a panic device doesn’t need to withstand the weight of a fire truck, but I’ve seen some herds of kids run out of school at the end of the day that are almost as tough.
I recently saw a video of a tank running over a Von Duprin 99 device, leaving it fully functional afterward. I have been dying to share it with you and it is now available! Enjoy!
UPDATE: Apparently it’s not a tank…it’s allegedly an M113 Armored Personnel Carrier. Still heavy!
And here’s the original Ultimate Test in case you haven’t seen it or want to watch it again for old time’s sake.

Hey Lori
That’s a great video!
Maybe BHMA should add a catagory to there testing criteria.
Jim
Thats great. Every time I watch it
This vehicle has served the military well since before Vietnam. Approximate weight is 10.5 to 12.4 tons, depending on armor. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/M113_armored_personnel_carrier
This is very old clip from IR, and it’s great.
It’s helpful for the sales team during competition and can be shown to client/owner, and i am sure they will go for Von duprin.
good video, is there any other videos?
