Building Code: 2003 International Building Code adopted as Maine Model Building Code – eff. 07/30/04
(If a municipality adopts or changes a building code, it must adopt the IBC 2003. Municipalities may choose not to adopt a building code, or may continue to use a previously adopted code.)
New statewide building and energy codes are expected 01/01/2010, but we have received reports that some towns are already enforcing the IBC 2006.
